Six Months of Addie {Half Birthday}

Sweet little Addie is now closer to being a year old, than she is to newborn. I am honestly struggling a bit with that. Time is going much too fast, I feel like we just brought her home from the hospital. Where did the newborn stage go? But oh, oh the changes. Seeing her sweet personality come out. How she responds to those she knows and loves. It’s incredible to see her grow. 

Age: 6 months
Stats: Weighs almost 15lbs, and almost 26 inches tall
Sleep: 6:30pm to 7am for bed time, nap time is hit and miss normally a nap in the morning 9:30-11am if we can get her down for it, and an afternoon nap from 1pm to 4pm… again IF we can get her to nap. 
Nicknames: Little Love, Daya (which is how Evie pronounces her name), and she still gets called Little Squish sometimes which is the name we called her until we decided one her name.
Milestones: Constantly smiling, and laughing often. Her giggles are infection, and she and Evie will often end up in giggle fits. She has been saying Mama for a bit. She can sit unassisted, but will only do so if she wants to, and for short times. 
Favourite Things: Food! This girl loves her food. She’s tried all sorts of stuff already, veggies, fruit, meat, the list goes on. She is happiest if she is included in getting to try things during meal times. She will gobble things up. She has recently become a huge fan of stuffies, we are still waiting to see if she picks one out as her lovie in hopes of using this to help her with going down for naps. She is also extremely happy whenever she gets to go in the jolly-jumper. 
Least Favourite Things: Nap time. This girl does not like, or do well at nap time. They can be a bit of a battle. She is slowly doing better though. The same goes for the car seat, she still isn’t the biggest fan of it, but is not screaming any more when in it, and we don’t always have to sit in the back with her.
Signature Moves: Sucking in her bottom lip and making it disappear, clicking her tongue, and moving backwards when on her back by pushing up on her feet into this funny plank-like position. If she’s on her tummy and trying to move forward her bum goes straight up into the air and she looks like a triangle. Otherwise this girl is always rolling!

We started this when Evie turned 6 months old. We made a small half circle cake, and I decorated it. Since then it’s been fun celebrating her half birthdays. Now Addie is having her turn! With her big sister’s help we whipped up a spice cake for her with rosette icing to decorate it. It’s the easiest thing to make. All you need is a circle cake pan, bake your cake, cut it in half, stack, and ice. Ta-da! Done. 

For a little something extra special my friend Alysse over at Peekabloom made a beautiful crown headband with 1/2 on it. It is covered in sparkles, and pink making it perfect for both of the girls to wear. To adjust the size to fit Addie I just ties a little knot in the back. I am really looking forward to the girls wearing this for photos here on out for their half birthdays. 

Now I know the whole idea of a half birthday might seem totally ridiculous, but I love it. We’ve made it half a year as a family of 4. Addie has changed drastically and it’s a great for picture worthy moments that we will cherish. It will never be something that we turn into a giant party with others, it’s just a fun little thing we are doing for the girls for now.

We love our darling Addie so very much, we are completely obsessed with you… which is evident in how your big sister goes crazy every second she is with you, and sees you. You are oh so loved.
