We have had 3 days of continuous snow fall and I have been loving every minute of it. It was not until today that I remembered something a friend of mine had suggested I try the next time we had snow. I shrugged it off then thinking we would not be getting any more snow this winter. Wrong! We have a foot of snow at our house, and it is still snowing as I write this.
Snow Ice Cream

Serves 4
It's incredibly simple to make ice cream with snow and only takes a few ingredients that you likely have in your kitchen.
Ingredients
- 4-5 cups of fresh snow
- 1/4 cup of sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla
- 1 cup of milk
Instructions
- Mix together the sugar, vanilla, and milk in a bowl until the sugar is pretty much dissolved. Most recipes I saw, and the one I tried called for 1/2 cup of sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla… that batch was way too sweet, and very strong vanilla flavour to it. So my recipe here I have cut those down already, you may want to lessen the amount event more still.
- Now, you can either scoop up a bowl of fresh snow and bring it in and then measure it, or if you have older kids that are great with helping in the kitchen, take the bowl of mixed ingredients outside. Get your kids to help scoop in 4 to 5 cups of snow into the bowl. Mix it all together. Serve right away and enjoy.
- You can freeze this, and then let it thaw a bit later. I did find that it melts very quickly, but it was still very tasty. You could change up the flavours by adding a drop of peppermint, or maybe you have some fun flavours from your local baking shop. Try adding some hot chocolate mix or some strawberry jam even!
- Don’t forget about toppings to add to the fun. It was also suggested to simply add fresh berries, and a little maple syrup for another version of this fun treat.

First we need some snow and have to remember to do this. Loved doing this as a kid and with my kids.

This is one of things I miss about living in a state that gets four seasons. Making snow ice cream was so much fun. However, we don’t get snow where I live in Florida, so I’m missing out. LOL! This looks so yummy. 🙂
