Strollers are right on up there at the top of the list for must get items when you find out you’re expecting your first child. Just how long will you be using a stroller though? Our girls are 4 and 1 and yes, we’re still using a stroller with them.
REASONS WHY WE’RE STILL USING A STROLLER
- Safety: It’s a place to have both our children and know they are safe. Often we’ll unload our youngest out of the car first and get her secured into the stroller and then move around the vehicle with the stroller and get our oldest out. We know exactly where our children are at all times then.
- Rest: Our youngest is small and while she learned how to walk before one, those little legs do get tired. Even our oldest gets tired when we’re out and about. It’s why we love when strollers have a board or second seat option. For everyone one step we take as adults are kids may be doing double or triple that. When we are going out and know a lot of walking may be involved, the stroller is definitely coming with us.
- Storage: We love being able to go out and about and have a place to put the diaper bag or to put items we’ve just bought. The basket under the stroller has also been used for grocery shopping instead of lugging one of the carry baskets provided by stores. Our stroller has seen everything from rain gear loaded in it to picnics for outings at the park, it’s a key storage place when we’re going out as a family.
- Extra Seat: There’s the odd time we’ll be somewhere and we cannot find a highchair, or they are all in use and we use our stroller as an extra seat. The bonus is it has buckles that aid in keeping our youngest seated. A feature we often look for in a stroller is can it roll up to a table.
If you see us out and about you just might spot us with a stroller still and that is fine in our books.

UM. I’M GOING TO BE USING A STROLLER WITH MY KIDS UNTIL THEY ARE IN MIDDLE SCHOOL.
just kidding, I have three kids — 5, 2, and 2 months. You should see the crazy looks i get when all three of them are in the double stroller.. you do you! keep those babies in the stroller! <3

I must be getting all kinds of side eyes! My girls are 3 and 5 (and abnormally tall for their ages) and I just traded in our double umbrella for a single with skateboard bc it was so hard to push their weight in double umbrella. Haha. I made mistake of forgetting a stroller on a long day time excursion and ended up carrying one one shoulders and one on hip along with shopping bags. Strollers are everything! Momma, you do you.

My youngest two are almost 6 and 4. And, yes, we still use a stroller. Nowadays it’s a stroller that has the standing board, but we visit a lot of places around the city and my oldest gets tired from walking after a few hours, and likes to take a break now and then. And as for my nearly 4 year old, he has mosaic Down syndrome and LOVES to run away from us. It’s a stroller or a child leash, and I have a feeling people will be less judgmental with a stroller. For him, it’s a safety issue, so we’ll be using a stroller for a while longer!

Ummm yesss! Mine is 2 and we still use the stroller when he gets tired. Also the extra seat is an important one or when we’re away during nap time for some shut eye

Girl, please! I have 4 ages 7/under… our stroller isn’t leaving us any time soon. Even when nobody is riding in it, we use it for piling stuff in! 😂🤷♀️

I totally get it, mama!! We still use a stroller for our 2 year old on occasion. She hates riding in it, but sometimes it’s just so much easier (and safer) to pop her in the stroller. And we definitely still use a stroller for our trips to Disney World. Even our 4 year old still rides in it from time to time!

I still lug the big double stroller most places for all these reasons, even though my youngest is nearly two! Kids get tired, and sometimes we need to put kids in a “time out” when they’re not listening in a public place. It might sounds mean, but I feel like when they get to walk in a store or something it’s a privilege and they need to listen, obey, and be safe or else they’re going to ride!

I am using a stroller with my 10 month old now, and used one with my older 2 until they were 3-4 only because of my youngest needing one the most now. I use one for the exact same reasons you said above, most importantly for safety!

I completely relate. We still use our stroller and for many of the same reasons.

I love using our stroller still. I still use it for my 5 year old daughter sometimes. It does make life easier.
