Whistler has become our go to for mini-vacations. We have visited there several times, and during different seasons. I often get asked where we stay, especially now with a munchkin. We have now stayed at Summit Lodge & Spa three times, and it has become our go to hotel to stay at when we visit Whistler.
You will find The Summit tucked in the heart of the village, and right across the street from one of our favourite places to go for breakfast Crepe Montagne. You can easily find parking near the entrance to pull into while you check in, you could unload there but we always just have one of us run in while the other waits in the car, and then park in their parking garage and know your vehicle is secure for your stay there. Check in is always a breeze, and the staff are incredibly welcoming. Make sure you grab a warm coffee or hot chocolate from the great beverage machine in the lobby. This is a wonderful treat for guests staying at the Summit, especially in the winter when you are about to head out and walk around in the cold for a bit.
The Summit Lodge & Spa is considered a boutique hotel and it is easy to see why. We have stayed in all of their room options. By far our favourite is the one bedroom suite. The rooms have all recently undergone upgrades and we love the new look. Each room is very unique, but filled with warmth and little details. I left with lots of ideas for my own home and what I would like to do thanks to the inspiring colour pallet in our room. The one bedroom suite has a king sized bed, a living room, kitchen and dinning area for 4 people, and a bathroom that includes a shower and full tub. It’s honestly like you haven’t left home. We found there was plenty of space to store our luggage and snow gear, but there was also loads of room for our daughter to play.
Since the Summit is in the village there are stores near by that you can go grocery shopping at. This is huge for us in helping keep our vacation cost down as we are able to buy groceries and fill the fridge in the suite. The kitchen had everything we needed for meal preparation, and we were pleasantly surprised to see a Keurig on the counter (note to self bring k-cups with us next time!).
My husband surprised me upon arrival with having arranged a head of time for there to be a Birthday Kit, Flowers, and Sweet Plate set up in our room. What a great way to surprise someone if you are going to be celebrating a birthday, or some other special occasion. The Summit Lodge definitely has an eye for the little details. I was in love with the bunting and the unique balloon arrangement. You can even purchase the bunting that is hung up on the wall if you do not want to leave it behind. We also highly recommend the sweet plate as there we several incredible treats in there from a local bakery shop.
We have learned that getting a one bedroom is very important for us as family so that we can put our daughter to bed on time, but we can still stay up later than 6:30pm. The Summit also has pack-n-plays available for little ones so you do not have to worry about bringing one with you.
One of my favourite little details that you will find on the bed, instead of under, is a cute little Stuf’d Sock Monster. These little monsters are up for adoptions, if you would like to take the monster home with you or want to check out what other little monsters are available be sure to let the front desk know.
The Summit Lodge & Spa has some of the best customer service I have ever experienced. We noticed a few little things that needed to be cleaned and the staff were quick to touch base with us and set everything right. As parents, especially on this trip with a little one who is into everything, staying some where clean was very important to us and the staff here understood that. They seriously went above and beyond and we truly appreciated it!
From our bedroom balcony we could see the outdoor patio and pool area. The pool and hot tub are outside, but have no fear because the pool is heated and the hot tub is nice and toasty if you are visiting in the winter months. You can even unwind in the sauna.
I loved the colours in the bathroom, so much so I am still wanting to repaint our bathroom at home. Having a full bath was great because we were able to give our daughter a bath before bedtime and stick to her bedtime routine. One of my favourite things though just might be the fireplace. Every room we have stayed in has a beautiful gas burning fire place. There is just something about having a fireplace and snow falling in the winter that go hand in hand.
If you are looking for a place to stay at for a trip to Whistler, check out Summit Lodge & Spa.
