I couldn’t believe how quickly people noticed that I was taking photos while actually IN the water when we went to the Cultus Lake Waterslides recently. Now, this post is not sponsored I’m simply sharing because almost immediately I started receiving messages asking:
“How did you take those photos?”
“Did you take your phone in the water with you?”
“Are you crazy? There’s no way I would take my camera or phone in there!”
“Did you use a waterproof case?”
Before going to the waterpark we made a stop in a MEC and headed to the section that has different cases. I had noticed waterproof cases previously when there and this time I had a reason for wanting to get one and try it out. Jason and I stood there for a bit looking over the different options, but one got our attention right away. Maybe it was the bright red colour, I don’t know.
Just image how much I was freaking out that it wouldn’t work and that the waterproof case we got for my phone would suddenly be filled with water and that no amount of rice would be able to revive my phone after. Honestly, getting a new phone is not in the budget with being off work over the summer and for a month before with Jason’s surgery.
WHAT WATERPROOF CASE ARE YOU USING?
We both liked the looks of the SeaLine Waterproof E-Case. The MEC we went to only had black and red in stock for the size case we needed. Part of why we went with the bright colour just in case we dropped it in the water and it sunk, we would be able to see the colour easily.
What got my attention with this case is that is submersible and can withstand up to 1 meter of submersion for 30 minutes. This makes it suitable for use in extreme and prolonged wet situations. Using a submersible case is a must at a waterpark and when you are trying to take photos of kids in water. I don’t trust kids, my own or someone else’s, to not knock it out of my hands. Waterproof or water-resistant just wouldn’t be enough.
CAPTURING MORE MEMORIES
It was a lot of fun to be able to take photos while in the water. It definitely allows us to capture more memories. I was a little worried about the SealLock™ zippered seal and that something would give, so I was constantly double-checking everything. To my surprise, it was fine the whole time but that still won’t stop me from double-checking whenever I sue it. I would rather be cautious, I fear that once that feeling goes away then something will happen to my phone.
As for the quality of the photos, the urethane window on the waterproof case does bring down the clarity for the lens of the camera on my cell phone. In case you are wondering, I use a Pixel 2. When my phone was in the case I needed to make sure it was focused exactly where I wanted. Doing this I managed to get some photos that I love from that day!
The other issue is that while it is touchscreen compatible, if you are trying to get a photo or video underwater it would suddenly switch to the home screen. It would stop recording or not allow me to take the photo. Next time I use the waterproof case, I am going to see if leaving more air in it will allow us to submerge the whole phone and get photos or video underwater. I’ll keep you posted on that.
We have one more camera trick we want to try this summer for water photos. You’ll have to wait to see if we can make that work.
Do you use a waterproof case when you go to places like a waterpark or to the beach?

This case would be perfect for the beach. I always want to have my phone near by, but too scared the ocean will damage it!

I need one of these for sure! I’m always worried about taking pics by the pool!

This is so handy for water adventures and traveling! I love all of the fun your kids had. We haven’t made it to a water park yet this summer. Sierra Beautifully Candid

This is a great concept, you can’t even tell in your pics that you had a case over the lens.
