I guess we can say that the holiday season is here. Especially since Highstreet had its Tree Lighting and Santa has officially arrived there. We are very appreciative to have been invited to attend. No matter what, we probably would have ended up there at some point to see the Holiday Show. Our oldest has been asking about it since she realized Christmas is next month!
WHAT TO EXPECT IF YOU GO TO THE TREE LIGHTING
We strongly encourage those wanting to attend to arrive early. Parking gets tight at Highstreet as this is a very popular event. We were able to arrive just ahead of 3 pm and had no problem finding underground parking. Our suggestion would be to arrive early and go over to where the tree lighting is taking place. This allows you to claim where you would like to stand for the tree lighting and get a good vantage point of the stage. I’ve heard that there may be limited seating available by donation to the food bank. This is first-come, first-seated. Once it’s full there is the usual standing room only.
If you do go early and have kids with you try to have one adult save the spot and then one can wander with the kids. Or even do a bathroom run as needed before the holiday show. The closest washrooms are near guest services and the theatre, right beside the tree lighting area. What is nice is the playground is also right beside this event so your kids can get some energy out while they wait.
The holiday show and tree lighting performances are 30 minutes in length each Saturday. The band performance is a highlight for us. Plus you cannot miss Spandy Andy who has more energy than anyone we’ve ever seen. He is very enthusiastic and gets everyone excited for Santa’s arrival to Highstreet. We love how festive this event is. It’s a great event to check out if you are in the area and looking for something to get you into the holiday spirit.
