Summer is coming to an end it feels with this long weekend. Maybe it’s just finally the end of a ridiculously long Spring Break? The girls were asking the other day if their favourite apples were ready to pick yet at Taves. Honeycrisp apples have a special place in their tummies. Thankfully, when I checked honeycrisp was listed as being ready September 7th for u-pick!
We arrived shortly after opening and were surprised by how windy it was out that direction. We weren’t ready for that, but thankfully it was a warm wind. Everyone was still nice and warm with the summer sun. We decided on picking 10lbs worth of honeycrisp, which cost $16. The employee directed us where to go on the farm and encouraged distancing. Being there early, we had a whole row to ourselves.
All of the best apples were up really high, so Jason put Addie to work. Lifting her up as high as he could so that she could reach the best apples up top! I don’t think he’ll be able to do that come next apple season. Plus we may have a little one toddling around by then or being pulled in the wagon. I can’t believe how much things are going to change in such a short amount of time!
We were able to get our annual photo together. Love this man so much!
We paid for the apples we picked off the trees and took them to the car. The girls wanted to walk around a little bit to see what was there. To our surprise, some pumpkins are already out on display! I was hoping to bring the pink and white ones home but was told no. It’s too early.
We didn’t go with wristbands today to go and do things like the maze or ride on bikes. We wanted to keep things simple with just apple picking. We did pick up a jug of apple cider (another favourite of ours from Taves) and everyone enjoyed an apple cider slushie. I cannot recommend the slushie enough, especially if it is hot out! If I could find a way to have one of these delivered to me after having baby 3, I would be one happy lady!
