I am already counting down the days until Summer vacation begins (I believe its 33 days now, 25 work days… wow!) as I can just tell all the students at my work are done, and all the staff are too especially with all this strike stuff going on. But I am not going to talk about that, I’m just praying it all gets resolved very soon.
I am ready for days filled with lots of sunshine, and many trips to the pool and beach. We booked Evie in for her swimming lessons again, just like last year, we signed up for two sessions. One in July, and another in August. Both sessions consist of 10 lessons. Its a great chance for all of us to get in the pool and cool down, and lots of family time. I can’t wait to see how Evie has changed compared to last year. Wonder if she will be able to blow bubbles this time, and if she will realize that kicking her feet really does help?
Friday evening we headed out for dinner as a family. I did cheat on my Whole30 a bit, and it was both a good thing to do and a bad. I realized the gluten is my nemesis, so that was a good thing to fully clue into, the bad was that I ended up with a wicked headache. Lessons learned, and I will be making changes fully to what I eat after May is over. It was so nice to get out as a family though, I realized I had her little dinner fork in the diaper bag so we did order her a little kids meal. When we do go out as a family we often order a kids meal now, and then Jason and I will share something because Evie does not eat that much so we finish it. Not the case this time, she ate a large portion of the chicken, she helped herself to the mashed potatoes that came with her meal and she had more food from what we ordered. I sense a growth spurt coming on! During dinner she started playing peekaboo and was keeping us entertained instead of the other way around. This is such a fun age!
Saturday we were up early to drop Jason off at our Friend’s home so that he could head off to Anvil for camp clean up all day. Evie and I picked up some stuff from Tender Tushies as they had a great sale happening recently, and I got some more detergent from them for a great deal. Once home Evie crashed for a good long nap and I ended up having to wake her up so we could head over to a camp ground in Fort Langley. My Aunt was in town and all of the family was heading over to visit and see her new trailer. It was nice to see everyone, and I always enjoy the smell of camp fires. I’m now looking into camp sites to see if there is anything available for a weekend in September, don’t know if we are brave enough to go with a toddler though. Evie was spoiled with a new book, and she got to try a cinnamon bun for the first time. After we headed back to our friend’s home to pick up Daddy but were welcomed in for a visit and dinner. I have learned now to add mushroom soup and curry to pasta to give it more flavor. Evie was doted on and got to go for lots of swing and hammock rides, even a sled ride on the grass around the yard. She also got to go on the trampoline for the first time.
Today has been more laid back. We had church this morning, and there was also a lunch there. Goober was so tired this morning though, and she refused to go down for a much needed nap when we got to church. Thankfully everyone at our church is great with her and she was very happy being there. No major melt downs. We enjoyed lunch and rushed home to get her to bed, plus Jason had to work this afternoon. We will be wrapping up our weekend with a family movie night.
Hope you have all had a wonderful weekend too.
