Last week was the Top 30 Vancouver Mom Blogger Celebration and my feet are still recovering from being in heels all evening. As my Mom said though “Sometimes it’s worth it if you’ve had a good time.” and a good time was most definitely had. I am hoping to share some of the official photos from the evening with you once they come out, but for now you will have to settle for my cell phone photos as I was not thinking and did not bring my camera with me.
I ended up in a bit of a frazzled hurry after work to get ready, but I made sure to still take time for Evie as I hadn’t seen her all day. She wanted to help me out with my makeup, which has become a bit of a tradition now whenever she sees me getting ready she wants to help me with my blush. It is seriously the cutest thing. So perhaps I should be saying that my makeup was by Evie for the evening. Hmm… that kind of has a ring too it. Maybe she will have her own makeup line some day. After much help from my fashion fairy godmother, Tairalyn, and several other friends on Instagram I had figured out what I wanted to wear for the evening. I wore my “Chelsea” dress from eShakti.com in the jade green colour. I had looked for a statement necklace all week but never found one I really liked, so I went to my classic set of pearls to wear instead. For some crazy reason I decided to wear wedge heels.
I managed to get the start time royally messed up, and ended up arriving an hour early, but that was ok because I’d rather be early than late especially when I am traveling from Surrey to Vancouver. Jason was worried I’d be late when he saw the news after I had left that there was a car accident and traffic was not moving. Thankfully it was the opposite direction that was having issues.
The theme for the evening was fashion, champagne, and chocolate. There was plenty to be had of each there, but I stuck to water. I did enjoy a piece of chocolate from Chocolate Arts. Oh my the chocolate covered brownie was amazing. I wish I had gotten a better photo of all of the chocolates there because each of them looked like a little piece of art.
The event was hosted by Jacqueline Conoir at their flagship location in Vancouver. It’s definitely a little gem tucked away in the city. If you are a huge fashion fan definitely check out JAC by Jacqueline Conoir. At the Vancouver Mom event there was even a fashion show featuring the clothing, but worn by some wonderful fellow bloggers. The ladies did a great job show casing the outfits.
Besides the chocolate treats, and fashion there were also some other fun things to check out that evening. A makeup artist from Skoah was there to talk to us about their makeup-line and to do some touch-ups for us because we were also able to have some head shots done. Images by Bethany were there to capture images from the evening, and to do head shots for all of this year’s top 30. I am really looking forward to seeing how these turn out as I know many of the previous top 30 members use their photos for many things. If we felt like a little extra sparkle there was a glitter tattoo table thanks to Par-T-Perfect Vancouver. I am not brave enough to get a real tattoo so this was a great temporary option. I can totally see how kids would find this really fun. You pick what you would like, I chose a little anchor, there is lots to select from sea horses, dragon flies, shamrocks (oh my!) . The template is put on, and filled in with adhesive, glitter goes on top, and voila… remove the template and you have your glitter tattoo.
I had such a great time getting to finally put faces to many of the bloggers I follow and talk to thanks to social media. Vancouver really is filled with many great bloggers if you are looking for some to check out go to VancouverMom.ca and check out the Top 30 from this year, and previous years. You are bound to find more blogs to love. These women are so wonderful. I felt so welcomed, almost like I have been initiated into a special group now.
As the top blogger this year I got to give a little thank you, I had written a little thing out, but forgot it in my purse when they called me up. Of course in that moment it was when it all totally hit me, and I choked up and the tears started. I am so thankful, and so appreciative to everyone. I am still at a loss for words. Chevrolet and The Painted Boat Resort Spa & Marina presented me with the grand prize. I will be going on a two night getaway with Jason and Evie in the future to The Painted Boat and I am really looking forward to it. Chevrolet has also very kindly offered us a vehicle to take with us on the trip. Should be fun to check out a different vehicle. I will definitely be sharing all about our trip after we go on it.
It was a very fun evening. I felt like Cinderella when I got home just before midnight, thankfully I didn’t misplace my heels but I did kick both of them off when I got in the car to drive home. What a night.

How was your Eshakti experience? I have never heard of this site but now looking through it and considering ordering!! I’m always very nervous about online clothing shopping because of fit but this looks pretty in depth.

I just might put a review up. For a quick bit on it. All around I am happy. If you can order and ship to someone in the States do that! It’s cheaper to do that. I was able to use a discount code as a first time shopper and the dress was on sale when I ordered. I also did the custom fit where you enter your measurements. The only measurement missing was for straps so I did have to get the straps taken in. Even with that and shipping to Canada (paid at door thanks no thanks Fedex) my dress was still less than full price.

I use one of those shipping places in the states to accept my package, only costs a few dollars. Thanks so much, definitely do a review when you get the time!!
