Does anyone else finish “Trick or treat…” with the rest of the little saying? I always end up saying “smell my feet, give me something good to eat” in my head whenever I hear this. Where did that whole thing come from any ways?
Yesterday was our second Halloween with Evie. Her first Halloween was very laid back since she was only 10 months old and learned how to walk just recently. This time it was a whole other adventure for her. She was much more into it, which made it so much more fun! We went over to my parent’s house again for a pizza dinner. We changed Evie into her costume when we arrived and let her knock on the door to be the first to go in. Grammie-Poo kindly added some treats to her little pumpkin bucket when she went in. Evie was the first trick-or-treater at their door… rightly so since we got there around 4pm.
We waited til dusk before we took her out to go around the neighborhood. She very quickly figured out what to do, and say. She knew she was to go up to the door and knock, and when the door opened she was to say “Trick-or-treat” and after being given something in her basket she was so say “Thank you”. I was very happy that she has such great manners while we went around. My favourite thing to see though was when she would be walking back to all of us after getting her newly received treat and she would cheer out loud “YAY! I DID IT!” each time and proceed to do a little happy dance.
Evie would request who she wanted to go with her up to each door, rotating between myself, and Jason, as well as her Aunty and Grammie-Poo. There was a few times where big groups of kids older than her would come up to a door at the same time, or after her, and she would want to follow them. I think she got excited to see so many kids out and about. She really is a social butterfly.
Similar to last year we only did a small portion of the area we were in. We could tell she was getting tired when she was walking a little slower, and started sucking her thumb while walking around. It was time to head back to the house and warm up. We have a lovely little Halloween… I’m just sad there were no skittles in Evie’s stash to make skittles paint.
