I have mentioned before (here) that we had picked up some seed packets and would be planting them in the spring in hopes of being able to grow a little veggie garden. Over the weekend I picked up this really neat root viewer, that I got from BC Playthings, after I saw them share about it on their Facebook page, and for a much better deal than anywhere else I had seen them online – BC Playthings is awesome by the way, lots of fun things tucked in there so be sure to check it out! They even held this item for me til I could pop in and pick it up. Great customer service… offering to help me with my stroller up and down the little stairs at the front of their store.
Now Evie may be a bit too young to understand what is going on just yet, but she will definitely be able to see things grow and that may get her attention for now, especially once everything gets much bigger. If all goes well we will have some kaleidoscope carrots, green onions, and radishes. Today I also picked up a few little plant boxes to plant some more veggies in, and I picked up a packet of peas to plant too. These may be what win Evie over, as she adores peas! Seriously this kid cannot get enough of them. Now I am also on the hunt for tomatoes and strawberries to plant and to figure out the best way to grow those.
I have also asked Jason and his brother if they might be willing to make me a garden box of some sort to have outside so that I can plant the pumpkin seeds we have. I might even plant some watermelon seeds. Pumpkins and watermelons just will not be able to grow in our window boxes. I get visuals of them being torn off the sides of our home. Not good. So I need a garden box of some sort.
This spring is all about experimentation with how things grow. I am hoping and praying it all goes well. Maybe some day we will own a house and we can have a true veggie garden that doesn’t just sit in the window, or in the window boxes. For now though, this will work. Well, I hope it works any ways. Anyone with a green thumb have any tips for me?
