I became a huge fan of Undercover Mama nursing shirts shortly after having my daughter. I purchased two after hearing about them, and have lived in them almost every day since they arrived. My collection of tanks has grown in size about 4 fold. While my nursing journey was not exactly what I hoped for with my daughter, I did become a dedicated pumping mama who committed to pumping daily for over 16 months. For myself modesty is important, so I was thrilled to have discovered these.
While pregnant my bra size increased, and after having my daughter it increased even more. Undercover Mama nursing shirts helped me keep things under control and at a modest level I liked thanks to the two different options of attaching the shirt to your bra. I was able to attach the shirt anywhere I wanted on my bra strap with the hook. This allowed me to put the shirt higher or lower as I needed it. It can also be hooked through the same part where the clasp of a nursing bra is located.Bra strap widths do very in size, and I never found this to be an issue with the hooks. They always stayed in place. You can also loop the elastic attachment over the clasp of a nursing bra to make unclasping the bra very easy for nursing or pumping.
My favourite part about Undercover Mama nursing shirt is that they keep my stomach covered while nursing or pumping. When my daughter did attempt to nurse she hated if I used a nursing cover. This way I felt a bit more covered up, and in control of things. There are even a slim mama shirt to help smooth things out after baby. I loved this option right after having my daughter because I did find it made a difference with how shirts laid over my stomach. I had the empty, baby pocket tummy for a little bit after my daughter, that shirt helped me feel more pulled together in confident in my look after baby.
I am currently 24 weeks pregnant, and I am also considered plus size in the world of all things fashion and clothing. I have found that these shirts fit true to size. I wear an extra large shirt normally, and that is what I order in all of my shirts. I have recently purchased a few double extra large to accommodate my expanding tummy during this pregnancy just in case a bit more room is needed. Especially if my tummy starts popping out the bottom of my shirts near the end, this way my tummy will remain covered because the length of these shirts is great. My original shirts that I purchased were a black and a white. Very basic, but since then I have added a lot of colour to my collection, I love the option now of being able to do a pop of a bold colour like red or yellow out from underneath any shirt I wear. It’s a great way to change up my wardrobe easily and have some fun with it.
Undercover Mama also has the best customer service I have ever experienced. One of the shirts I ordered came with some problem areas and the customer service team was quick to reply to my email and question. They truly went above and beyond what I expected, and only made me love this company even more.

I’ve never owned a nursing tank, but these look great! I would probably choose a simple neutral colour.
discoveryparent says
I so would have guessed that you’ve tried a nursing tank. I was not expecting that. I adore these for even when not nursing they are my go to laying tank too now.
Katherine smith says
Are they long enough if you have a long torso? That was my main complaint with the bravado tanks – this looks like a good alternative!
discoveryparent says
Definitely they are long enough! That was a concern of mine too. I’ve heard the same from friends of mine who wear them and also have long torsos, we’ve all never had an issue. Since you can adjust where it clips to on your strap if needed it makes a huge difference.

I am seeing the benefit of nursing shirts with my second and living in the city! I am always babywearing while with my 4 year old and it’s so much easier to pop my baby out of the wrap and nurse her, without having to take off and then retye!
discoveryparent says
Oh now I want to try these out while baby wearing. I’m going to be on a mission when our second arrives this fall to figure that out!
Julia says
I’ve never owned a nursing tank before, so I think for my first one, I’d go with white. Goes with everything and great for layering.
discoveryparent says
I couldn’t agree more, white is a great neutral to start with.

My little guy is due in two weeks and I’m so hopeful I’ll be able to breastfeed. I had to pump with my daughter and it was difficult, but I don’t regret it for a moment. I think I’d choose white. 🙂
discoveryparent says
Two weeks! Just two weeks. Oh wow mama, can’t wait to hear the good news of your little guys arrival. I’m with you, I do not regret a moment of pumping since nursing didn’t work out for me. I’ll do it all over again with this kiddo if it comes down to it.
