We love VeggieTales in this house. I grew up watching VeggieTales, and have always enjoyed the fun characters and stories. Now I am excited to be sharing the wonderful videos from Big Idea, with our daughter. Merry Larry and the True Light of Christmas was the first movie she has seen from VeggieTales, and has already become a favourite. She starts dancing as soon as she hears the theme song start, and she starts smiling and giggling once she sees Larry and Bob on the screen. Any VeggieTales fans out there are going to want to pick up Merry Larry and the True Light of Christmas.
Always a favourite, Larry is up to his usual antics, and of course he has a silly song to share called – Wrapped Myself Up for Christmas. Larry the Cucumber is a very enthusiastic mall elf, and Bob the Tomato is trying to get the mall decorated and ready to dazzle for the holiday season. Larry finds himself determined to help a little girl, who paid a visit to the mall elf. She has a big heart filled with love, and is determined to to help her neighbour.
This movie is a great way to help remind older children, and teach young children of what the real meaning of the season is. That it isn’t all about the decorations and light displays. It is also a great reminder that we are to love our neighbours. These are all things we want to teach our daughter about, so we really appreciated seeing these lessons throughout the movie. We love knowing that any VeggieTales movie will have something to be learned shared in it, this movie was no exception from that.
“Christmas shines most bright and true, when you give the love God gave to you!”
We all enjoyed watching this DVD as a family. It has been played repeatedly since we got it. My daughter especially enjoys all of the music, and will bop along to Larry’s Silly Song – Wrapped Myself Up For Christmas, and to the song played at the end by Owl City and Toby Mac – Light of Christmas. We have already added this song to our Christmas music rotation.
Now, who here has seen Duck Dynasty? You cannot miss the character of Silas the Okra, done by Si Robertson of Duck Commander. He did a great job adding to the narration of Merry Larry and the True Light of Christmas. I am hoping they bring his character back in the future.
This DVD has some great bonus features. Such as the lyric video for the song Light of Christmas. There is even a discussion guide you can go through after watching the movie, to help talk about what happened in the movie. Parents can watch this before hand even, to help with some guided discussions after if you wanted.
Do you have a little on that likes colouring pages? You can find some colouring pages, and other activities that go along with Merry Larry and the True Light of Christmas over at Veggie Tales.
