We recently received a copy of Disney Descendants 2 and watched it twice this weekend, all while dancing a long to the songs on it. We have also had the songs stuck in our head since watching it for the first time. Our oldest daughter is also requesting purple hair and has declared her new favourite colour to be purple just like the main character of Descendents, Mal.
Do you have a Descendants fan in your house? Have you already seen Descendants 2?
The story deepens in the music-driven sequel to the global smash hit “Descendants,” as the teenage sons and daughters of Disney’s most infamous villains — Mal, Evie, Carlos and Jay (also known as Villain Kids or VKs) — try to find their place in idyllic Auradon.
When the pressure to be royally perfect becomes too much for Mal, she returns to her rotten roots on the Isle of the Lost where her archenemy Uma, the daughter of Ursula, has taken her spot as self-proclaimed queen of the run-down town. Uma, still resentful over not being selected by Ben to go to Auradon Prep with the other Villain Kids, stirs her pirate gang including Captain Hook’s son Harry and Gaston’s son Gil, to break the barrier between the Isle of the Lost and Auradon, and unleash all the villains imprisoned on the Isle, once and for all.
Many have already seen Descendants 2 thanks to its television debut last month. It is available on DVD starting August 15th. We got a sneak peek thanks to receiving an early copy. If you’ve seen the first, Descendants 2 takes a step towards the darker side and focus on villain background of some of the main characters. There are 4 characters who are the children of famous Disney villains, and several other characters who are the children of different heroes and royalty.
The highlight of Descendants 2 for us is obviously the musical numbers, I am already searching for the soundtrack to be able to play it in our car. The musical numbers are often very lively which made both of our girls get up and dance along to this musical fantasy movie.
My favourite part though is the introduction of Uma, the main antagonist in Descendants 2, who is the daughter of Ursula. She has legs, possibly thanks to a certain necklace you just may recognize from The Little Mermaid, but we do also get to see her turn into a giant octopus just like her mother did. She brought with her rivalry for Mal and the action pack sequences that were needed through this movie. There’s also a few other new villains introduced to the Descendants crew that you’ll figure out who their parents are right away.
Descendants 2 is a fun, action and musical packed movie. If you know a fan of the first movie, they will likely want to check this one out too! They will not be disappointed by this sequel. We are actually left wondering if there will be a Descendants 3.

Yes! My daughter and her friends have been singing the songs from Descendants 2 and making up dances. She was just asking me if we could get the soundtrack so I would love to surprise her with the DVD!! It’s amazing to me how quickly they pick up the lyrics.
