Today we celebrate. Evie turns 4 years old today (officially this evening, I keep teasing her that she will not be 4 until bedtime and that I am soaking up her being 3 as long as possible). With it being winter break from my work and Jason working evenings we decided to go out as a family today to celebrate Evie.
It’s hard to believe that our wee little babe has grown up so much. So much has changed about her this past year. Her vocabulary is very extensive and she has this silly giggle that many adore. She will talk your ear off if you let her, or she will be shy until she warms up to you. Once she warms up to you, consider yourself a cherished friend because she will not forget you.
Evie only really had two requests for her birthday… 1) a birthday cake and 2) to get to wear her Anna dress. We covered her bedroom door with balloons and streamers so that when she wakes up all the balloons fall into her room when she opened the door. In the afternoon she will be going out for high tea with me (daddy has to work and her sister will be due for a nap) for some one on one time.
With her birthday being so near to Christmas and the New Year, plus she has a friend with a birthday a few days after, we have decided to hold off on celebrating with all her friends until January. It’s just too crazy around this time of ear.
When she gets older it may be more important to her to celebrate on the day of, for now, we will simply make that day special just us as a little family and celebrate as a large group that includes more family and friends later on.
Now I am off to continue celebrating her being four. Later tonight I’ll be planning her birthday party for next month. She’s requested mermaids and sailors. We’ve sent out the invites, hopefully, they are not lost in the craziness of the mail over the holidays. I’m looking forward to this birthday party. There may just be a special surprise for her and all her guests.
