When people see photos of me, or see me in person, you can’t miss the long hair. I have had long hair very often in my life and recently I have been considering donating my hair. With recent visits to the Disney Store in the mall a couple times now I have heard comments from little kids who say “Wow! You have princess hair!” or “I want hair just like yours!” and this got me thinking, and it became really set on my heart to donate my hair. I want to donate my hair so that a child can feel like they are a princess again, and have their princess hair.
I posted on my Instagram asking who people recommended to donate the hair through. I had some things that I wanted to take into consideration when it came to who I would be donating my hair too. Thankfully several of you had wonderful suggestions, and experiences with different organizations. Some of you have donated, and others were on the receiving end of a wig. After researching into the different organizations I decided to go with Wigs for Kids BC which is a local organization who provides free, custom-fitted wigs for children who have lots their hair due to serious illness or cancer.
This was something I really wanted in my search for who to donate too. I was hopeful for local, but I also really wanted the wig my hair would be put into, to be free of charge to the family and child who needed it. It made me really upset to hear that many companies do charge. These families, and especially these kids have already gone through so much. Wigs for Kids BC helps to cover the cost for not only the wig, but also the cost of essential drugs and feeding supplies for children that are not covered by MSP.
My hair is going shorter, much shorter. I would love to not only donate my hair but to also raise some money to contribute to this organization because I love what they are doing. I started a pledge page which you can find here:

I have set a small goal, but I would love to see it get passed. If it’s on your heart to donate, I would be so thankful if you would. If you are thinking of donating your hair and are in the BC area, please consider sending it here, or taking part in their free hair cut day that is coming up in October and happening at select salons. Thank you so much everyone! I will be sure to share a before and after photo soon.
